When RFQ details are incomplete, quotation cycles become slow and error-prone. For NEMA 17 projects, buyers can shorten turnaround time by sending a structured requirement package from day one.

Minimum Data Package (MDP) for Fast Quotation

Use this as your baseline before sending RFQ:

Core Electrical Requirements

Include these items in your first email:

  • Rated current per phase (A)
  • Rated voltage (V)
  • Step angle (1.8 degree or 0.9 degree)
  • Holding torque target (N.m)
  • Driver model or microstepping plan

If your team is still selecting a driver, share your controller and power supply limits. That helps avoid recommending a motor that your electronics cannot run safely.

Also include your target speed range and duty cycle. A motor that works at low RPM may fail at your real operating speed without driver and voltage adjustment.

Core Mechanical Requirements

Define mechanical constraints early:

  • Body length limit (for example pancake vs long body)
  • Shaft diameter and shaft length
  • Single-shaft or double-shaft
  • Mounting hole/thread requirements
  • Connector type and cable length

For retrofits, add photos or drawings of the existing mount area. This prevents mismatches in shaft extension and cable exit direction.

If you use couplers, belts, or lead screws, provide the mating component model. This allows tolerance matching before sample dispatch.

Commercial and Delivery Information

RFQ speed also depends on commercial clarity:

  • Sample quantity and target mass-order volume
  • Required Incoterm (EXW/FOB/CIF/DDP)
  • Destination country
  • Target delivery window
  • Packaging and labeling requirements

If your procurement process requires PP sample sign-off or staged release, mention it early so production planning can reflect your approval gates.

Common RFQ Gaps That Delay Quotations

  1. Sending only model keyword without load or speed requirement.
  2. No shaft or connector detail while asking for custom pricing.
  3. Asking for lead time without quantity split (sample vs batch).
  4. Missing destination and trade terms, which blocks logistics estimation.

  • Mechanical drawing or installation interface sketch
  • Existing motor label/datasheet (if replacing)
  • Driver model and wiring requirement
  • Assembly photo showing clearance constraints

A complete RFQ is the fastest path to a reliable quote. For custom projects, provide both your preferred target and acceptable tolerance range so engineering can return feasible options in one round.
